For more than a decade, Mayank Gupta has been making waves in the corporate accounting field. Currently serving as the Senior Manager at SOAProjects, Inc., Mayank Gupta has a plethora of corporate accounting experience that helps him thrive in this role.
As a chartered accountant from India and cleared certified public accountant examination in USA , Mayank Gupta began his professional journey in March 2006 when he took a position at Deloitte, where he worked in the core assurance division as an experienced associate.
After a little more than a year, Mayank Gupta then assumed his role as an assistant manager at PWC in India. Because Mayank Gupta was able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and related financial reporting concepts and rules to resolve the issues related to leasing, consolidation, IFRS conversion, revenue recognition, and business combination regulations, he was able to quickly move from assistant manager to manager at PWC.
While serving as a manager for IFRS and U.S. GAAP advisory at PWC India, Mayank Gupta worked on complex accounting and financial reporting-related project teams within a professional services environment, providing core assurance or transaction-related advisement to external clients in the automobile, telecommunication, manufacturing, FMCG, and IT industries.
Between August 2011 and April 2012, Mayank Gupta was the accounting senior manager at General Motors in India. It was then that he worked with a corporate accounting group that was responsible for technical accounting, general business issues, consolidation of accounts, and preparation of the financial statements under U.S. GAAP and Indian GAAP reporting to the Controller.
His responsibilities while with General Motors in India also included interacting with the statutory auditors, corporate reporting team, and other groups such as the plant accounting team, FP&A, marketing, procurement, and more. Mayank Gupta supervised a team of more than 10 people and was also responsible for the monthly close, financial reporting, and GL reconciliations while working as the accounting senior manager at General Motors in India.
His final stop before landing at SOAProjects, Inc., was as the Senior Manager of Revenue at Ringcentral, a public company with revenue of approximately $400 million. From November 2016 to August 2017, Mayank Gupta led a team of five people to handle all aspects of the company’s revenue, including ASC 606 implementation, contract reviews for revenue implication, monthly close, VSOE and BESP studies.
Since August 2017, Mayank Gupta has been the senior manager of technical accounting and financial reporting at SOAProjects, Inc. Here he applies his expertise in U.S. GAAP to provide technical guidance on accounting issues and the application of accounting principles and regulatory pronouncements to the company’s clients.
Mayank Gupta also assists in the preparation of quarterly 10-Q, annual 10-K and other reports that are filed with the SEC, as well as the month-end/quarterly close process. He helped the company provide initial IPO services that included drafting the registration statement, preparing quarterly financial statements from annual numbers, and assisting in the cleanup of accounting records. Among other responsibilities, Mayank Gupta also provides pre-audit support to clients, prepares responses to SEC comments, prepares presentations for Board of Directors and Management, and provides best practices related to accounting policies and procedures.
